PunchOut (also known as Supplier PunchOut) is a technology designed to facilitate
online procurement by simplifying item selection and ordering. WorkPlace PunchOut/cXML
is based on cXML (commerce eXtensible Markup Language), the industry standard for
PunchOut that ensures real-time compatibility with all cXML-compliant vendors.
WorkPlace PunchOut/cXML enables a requisitioner to select items for purchase directly
from a vendor’s website.
WorkPlace users select the PunchOut vendor with a single click from the WorkPlace
Requisition page to be taken directly to the customer specific site. All browsing,
shopping, real-time inventory availability and pricing are done from the vendor’s
website and their catalog. After shopping the site, when the user checks out,
all of the items are populated as requisition line items in WorkPlace to complete
the process of account code distribution, shipping information, approving and creating
purchase orders. Once the purchase order is created, it will be automatically
sent to the vendor via cXML to complete the transaction.
Requisitioners can shop multiple vendors' online catalogs, and online purchases
honor all existing approval processes.
